Storyline
The movie begins with Rajeshwar Singh (Anupam Kher), a rich businessman who lives with his three sons, Rajesh (Akshay Kumar), Rakesh (Pankaj Dheer), and Rajiv (Tiku Talsania). He is a widower who misses his wife dearly and wants to remarry. He has his eyes on his neighbor, Kusum (Moushumi Chatterjee), a widow who lives with her three daughters, Kiran (Shanti Priya), Komal (Chandni), and Kavita (Prithvi). However, he faces a problem: his sons are in love with Kusum's daughters and want to marry them. Rajeshwar is opposed to this idea, as he thinks that Kusum's daughters are not suitable for his sons. He also fears that if his sons marry Kusum's daughters, he will lose his chance to marry Kusum himself.
To prevent this from happening, Rajeshwar hatches a plan. He hires a fake astrologer, Baba Baldev Singh (Anupam Kher in a double role), to tell Kusum that her daughters' horoscopes are very bad and that they will bring misfortune to their husbands. He also tells her that the only way to save them is to marry them off to poor and illiterate men. Kusum, who is superstitious and gullible, believes him and agrees to his suggestion. Rajeshwar then arranges for three such men, Bhola (Raj Babbar), Ghanshyam (Gulshan Grover), and Munna (Shakti Kapoor), to pose as prospective grooms for Kusum's daughters. He hopes that by doing this, he will scare away his sons from Kusum's daughters and clear the way for his own marriage with Kusum.
However, things do not go as planned. Rajeshwar's sons find out about his scheme and decide to foil it. They disguise themselves as poor and illiterate men and replace the original grooms. They manage to win over Kusum's daughters and convince them to elope with them. Rajeshwar is shocked and furious when he learns about this. He vows to stop them at any cost. He chases them with the help of Baba Baldev Singh, Bhola, Ghanshyam, Munna, and some goons. A series of hilarious and chaotic events ensue as Rajeshwar's sons try to escape from their father's wrath and marry their beloveds.
The movie ends with a twist. It is revealed that Kusum was aware of Rajeshwar's plan all along and that she was playing along with him. She tells him that she never wanted to marry him and that she only wanted her daughters to be happy with their true love. She also tells him that she knew about Baba Baldev Singh's fake identity and that she had hired him herself to expose Rajeshwar's intentions. She also reveals that she had secretly arranged for her daughters' marriages with Rajeshwar's sons in a temple before they eloped. She shows him the marriage certificates as proof. Rajeshwar is stunned and ashamed by this revelation. He realizes his mistake and apologizes to Kusum and his sons. He accepts them as his daughters-in-law and blesses them. He also decides to give up his idea of remarriage and live happily with his family.
