We are working on shipping out all existing customers' account-specific serial numbers and access codes by then.If I add v2021 to my machine using the temporary serial number & access code, will Bing Maps not work? I currently have Bing Maps in v2019 and don't want to lose it.

Although the served version of MapInfo is installed, when MapInfo is run the dialog for activation asks for the serial number and access code as for a node-locked licence, instead of the licence server name and port number.

If you have already installed version 17.0, 17.0.1, 17.0.2 or 17.0.3 use the same serial number and access code to install version 17.0.4. You can find this by clicking on the Pro tab and then click Licensing.


You must install MapInfo License Server on your network, and it must be accessible to all MapInfo Pro users. The second company as as above, except it does not use Access. I used setup.exe /admin to customise the installation so that the company information and serial number are included and prevent Access from being installed.


The first time you start MapInfo Professional you are asked toactivate your product usingthe serial number and access code yousupplied during the installation. This section describestheactivation process for the type of license your organizationpurchased.


Determine the Type of License you haveThe serial number andaccess code that you enter during the installation indicatestoMapInfo Professional what type of license you have. Depending onthe license type,MapInfo Professional will guide you throughactivating the product (if your organizationpurchased node-lockedlicenses) or connecting to a license server (if yourorganizationpurchased concurrent or distributable licenses).


If the third character of your serial number is "D" or if youhave limited access to email, or have installedMapInfo Professionalin a Citrix environment, then your organization purchasedconcurrent non-bor-rowing serial licenses. Your systemadministrator will provide you with a license server machinenameand port number. For activation instructions, see DistributableLicenses.


Product ActivationPitney Bowes Software uses the serial numberand access code you supplied during the installation toactivate theproduct. If you need to refer to these numbers again, the serialnumber and access codeare located on the product box and on theProduct Activation Information Card.


Automatic ActivationSelect the Automatic Activation option ifyou have an Internet connection. The Activation Wizard willmake aone-time connection with a Pitney Bowes Software server. Using theserial number and accesscode you provided during the installation,the Activation Wizard will retrieve one of the licenses youror-ganization purchased and associate it with your computer.


2. In the Specify location to save Activation Request filedialog box, press Enter, or click Browseto select a folder in whichto save the Activation Request file and then click Next.TheActivation Request contains your serial number and access code,plus information that identifiesthe computer you are activatingon.


4. Click OK.The path and filename of the Activation Request fileappear in the box. The Activation Requestcontains your serialnumber and access code, plus information that identifies thecomputer you areactivating on.


Transferring a Node-Locked LicenseNode-locked licenses (thethird character of the serial number is "N") are associated with aparticularcomputer. To use your product on a computer other thanthe one on which you have it activated, andwithout consuminganother license, you can transfer your license from one computer toanother. Forexample, you received a new computer at work and youwant to run your product on the new computerinstead of on the oldone.


To activate a distributed license:1. Begin the MapInfoProfessional installation process as you would with any otherlicense model.2. When you are prompted for your serial number andaccess code, enter the distributed license serial


If the application did not access the license server, did notrecognize the serial number or activationcode, or did not recognizethe port number, an error message opens. We recommend that youreviewthese components to ensure that they are correct and/or workwith your system administrator to reviewthese four pieces ofinformation. Correct the erroneous information and begin theactivation processagain.
